With a diverse background in painting, art marketing and gallery management, April has spent 15 years working as a commercial artist and fine art painter. April studied at The Art League of Alexandria, The Corcoran School of Art & Design, and The Yellow Barn Studio. She spent much of her childhood as an art apprentice for many well-known east coast artists. She now works and lives in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband, two sons and three cats.
As a painter, I use the medium of oil, acrylic, and mixed media to create imagery that frees the communication between everyday life and the fantastic. At times this work is large-scale, close-up portraits with metal foils, and other works feel frozen in time, like boats forever sailing in troubled waters. I use my artwork to tell stories, expressing the way I perceive the world around me. I hope to create an intense relationship with the viewer, one that is complex and long lasting.
